Mike DuRussel II
Owner & Lead Inspector
Mike is a U.S. Army veteran and the founder of Red 5 Home Inspections. With more than 20 years of experience in water leak detection, insurance inspections, and residential construction systems, he brings extensive knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, structural issues, and general contracting to every inspection.

Throughout his career, Mike has helped homeowners identify hidden problems and understand the true condition of their properties. His experience inspecting water damage on behalf of insurance companies inspired him to establish Red 5 Home Inspections, where his focus is on providing clear, objective evaluations and exceptional customer service.

When he is not inspecting homes, Mike enjoys woodworking, home improvement projects, and finding practical solutions to everyday challenges. He approaches every inspection with the same care and attention he would give his own home, ensuring clients receive a thorough and professional experience.
Shawn Scott
Co-Founder & Home Inspector
Shawn Scott brings a diverse professional background and a passion for helping people to his role at Red 5 Home Inspections. After spending seven years working alongside Mike in the water leak detection industry, Shawn found his true calling helping homeowners understand and solve problems with their properties.

During his time in the industry, Shawn specialized in pool leak detection and insurance-related inspections while building extensive knowledge of residential construction, home systems, and property maintenance. Known for his approachable personality and strong communication skills, he enjoys helping clients feel informed, confident, and supported throughout the inspection process.

Shawn believes that a home inspection should do more than identify issues. It should provide homeowners with practical information they can understand and use to make informed decisions about their investment.
Outside of work, Shawn enjoys creating epoxy resin artwork, coaching baseball, following the Detroit Tigers, and cheering on Michigan State athletics.
